The thesis represents a first methodic approach to the archival documentation concerning the music in the cathedral of S. Peter in Bologna. Covering a temporary range from 1417 to 1754, the thesis is organised in five chapters, a historical introduction, a catalogue of non preserved and preserved music sources, a chronology of musical attested performances, a chronology of stable musicians and a ordered transcription of all the known documents related to the music in the cathedral
