The purpose of the thesis was to examine whether there are significant risk factors in the Finnish housing finance markets, and what are the possible causes behind them. The aim was also to research whether there are similarities between the US subprime crisis in 2007-2009. The risk factors associated with the Finnish housing finance markets have attracted a lot of public debate, which makes the topic very current. The first part of the theoretical framework contains background information about the factors and causes of the subprime crisis.
