[eng] The use of femtosecond lasers has recently gained attention as a result of the recognition to Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland with the award of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 "for their method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses". The innumerable areas of application of ultrashort laser pulses have not yet been completely explored, but their possibilities for accessing the microworld are considered highly valuable.
