Shin-Yatsushiro monument in Yatsushiro. Japan

[EN] The Shin-Yatsushiro Monument was opened in 2004 to celebrate the new bullet-train station in front of which it stands. Located in Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan, the project is situated amongst a rural landscape with few distinctive features other than the station itself, whose urban architectural stylings are somewhat incongruous with the open nature of the site.
