Constructed wetlands (CWs) are anthropically designed systems to improve and optimize certain physical and biochemical processes that occur in the ecosystems of natural wetlands with the main objective of removing pollutants from the water. This technology, which usually has been used for the treatment of urban wastewater, is being recently applied for treating a great variety of flows, including eutrophic water.
