[EN] Acute myocardial ischemia is one of the most common heart diseases. It is produced by metabolic and electrophysiological changes in cells that form the heart muscle. It presents the well-known phenomenon of extracellular potassium accumulation, and when it exceeds the value of 6 mM is known as hyperkalemia. The aim of this work is to study the mechanisms underlying hyperkalemia by using mathematical models of ventricular action potential of rabbit heart cells. We have used the model proposed by Shannon et al., and introduced the necessary equations to simulate the effects of acute ischemia.
