[EN] Floral induction is the necessary process for a plant to be capable to differentiate the meristem into reproductive structures. In Arabidopsis thaliana, it has been shown that the protein encoded by FT gene is produced in the leaves and transported to the meristem, acting as the messenger to floral bud induction. This gene seems to act universally since its, ortologues have been found in all the species studied. Our aim was to find it (them) in loquat (Eriobotrya japonica), and to sequence and characterize it (them).
