International audienceBetween 1830 and 1848, bookshops were extremely concentrated within Paris and its various neighbourhoods. We will try to understand how bookshop’s owners experienced neighbourhoods as markets and places for socialisation. Parisian geography defined social and professional book retailing networks. Being active within one of them was compulsory to obtain a bookselling warrant and to reach information and money flows.
