Not AvailableThe study was conducted to examine the pattern of occurrence and pathology of infectious bursal disease (IBD) in the birds of India. 181 chickens from 81 cases during August 1994-July 1996 were used for postmortem examinations. IBD was diagnosed in 20% of the cases. A total of 16 outbreaks (8 in broilers and 8 in layers) were recorded, and the morbidity was 7-100% in broilers and 4-100 in layers. The mortality due to IBD on various farms ranged from 1 to 40% in broilers and 2 to 40% in layers. The gross findings in acute cases included poor growth, muscular haemorrhages and enlarged and haemorrhagic bursa. Kidneys were enlarged and pale, intestinal walls thickened with haemorrhages and caeca were distended with reddish contents.Not Availabl
