PENGARUH KONSENTRASI RESIN DAN VARIASI SUSUNAN LAYER FRP (FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC) SEBAGAI PELAPIS REDUCER TERHADAP KETAHANAN KOROSI PADA FLUIDA ASAM PHOSPAT DAN KEKUATAN TARIK

Abstract - Corrosion is one of the causes of material failure in chemical companies. As happened in the phosphoric acid factory in Gresik City, East Java. There is a reducer pipe that has been corroded on the surface of the inner wall. Given the fluid flowed in each process is phosphoric acid in the form of slurry. To overcome this, FRP material is chosen as an alternative coating, because of its resistance to erosion and corrosion. The material is made from a layer of woven roving and mat laminated using resin, catalysts and other additives. In this final project, we will analyze the making of FRP materials, namely the concentration of resin (10:1, 9:1, 8:1) and the variation of the laying arrangement of matt and woven roving. In this study, there is a test of immersion test and tensile test to determine the corrosion resistance and material strength. The immersion test flow is also divided into two speed of 2,7 m/s and 0 m/s. The tensile test process refers to ASTM D-638 "Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Plastics" while the Immersion Test refers to ASTM-G31. Tests on materials consisting of 3 concentration of resin (10:1, 9:1, 8:1) and 3 types of Matt and WR arrangements. From the above research, It was found that the corrosion rate in immersion fluid testing is greater than the silent fluid, that the most optimal composition that is more resistant to corrosion rates is in the composition of the concentration of resin 10: 1 with variations in layer 3 (2R,M,R,2M,2R) and the most optimal composition that is more resistant to tensile strength is in the composition of the concentration of resin 10: 1 with variations in layer 3 (2R,M,R,2M,2R) of 215.75 MPa. So it can be concluded that the most optimal results in the manufacture of FRP material for the inner coating of the reducer are in the composition of the concentration of resin 10:1 with variations in layer 3 (2R,M,R,2M,2R)
