This article aims to discuss how the training of undergraduate university students specializing in elementary school occurs in relation to the teaching of visual arts. It was taken into account their performance in supervised pre-service teacher internships, raising discussions about the current training as well as actions of the future professionals of the Pedagogy Course - CE/UFSM. Thus, qualitative, descriptive and interpretative critical approaches under a dialect perspective were used as we understand the importance of the totality of the phenomenon in the study and its contradictions.
