Menentukan kekasaran permukaan suatu komponan sangatlah penting dalam industry manufaktur. kualitas suatu produk sering kali ditentukan oleh tingkat kekasaran permukaankomponennya baik dalam proses manufaktur mau pun pada produk akhir. Dalam literature dan praktek sudah dikembangkan berbagai metode untuk menentukan tingkat kekasaran permukaan dalam suatu proses manufaktur yang menggunakan mesin perkakas. Namun demikian masih sedikit metode untuk menentukan kekasaran yang cukup memadai dan mudah digunakan. Dalam makalah ini metode Cluster Analysis dikembangkan untuk menentukan parameters permesinan, yaitu: cutting speed (Vc), Feeding (F), dan Dept of Cut (Ap) guna mendapatkan tingkat kekasaran permukaan yang memadai.
