This 14-page journal article, made available by SpringerOpen, discusses the results of a study on student perceptions of a curriculum change to an undergraduate mechanical engineering course in 2015 and 2016. The updated curriculum "borrows from content and pedagogy traditionally employed in industrial design courses. The discipline-based education research (DBER) framework was used to investigate the manner in which the new curriculum was implemented and student reactions to this change." Results of the study show that students reacted more positively to the new curriculum than the previous curriculum.Â
