Thalassaemia caused by defects in the synthesis of the haemoglobinchains. Mainly two types of thalassaemia are found in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Alpha thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of alpha globin chains, and beta thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of beta globin chains. The symptoms of thalassemia can vary. Some of the most common ones include: Bone deformities, darkurine, delayedgrowh and development excessive tiredness and pale skin and sometimes fever. Not everyone has visible symptoms of thalassemia. Signs of the disorder also tend to show up later in childhood or adolescence.
