Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre manejo integrado de vectores. Córdoba. Colombia

Type of study. Descriptive, transversal study. Objective: to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices of families and communities regarding the control of vector-borne diseases and vector control. Methodology. Structured interviews were applied to 162 individuals classifying high risk areas for tropical diseases and 1,800 homes were inspected. Results Percentages higher than 75% have favorable attitudes for the control of VTE and their vectors, but they do not have the knowledge or elements required for control practices. The knowledge is insufficient and divided, myths about the mechanism of transmission persist (25.6%). The environmental and intradomiciliary conditions of the houses are favorable for the reproduction of the vectors (75%). Conclusion. The program for the control of vectors and vector-borne diseases must be strengthened in terms of the facilities of the families to carry out the actions that have been delegated to them.Tipo de estudio. Estudio descriptivo, transversal. Objetivo: identificar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de las familias y comunidades con respecto al control de las Enfermedades transmitidas por vectores y control de vectores. Metodología. Se aplicaron entrevistas estructuradas a 162 individuos clasificando las zonas de alto riesgo para enfermedades tropicales y se inspeccionaron 1800 viviendas. Resultados. Porcentajes superiores al 75% tienen actitudes favorables para el control de las ETV y sus vectores, pero no tienen los conocimientos, ni elementos requeridos para las prácticas de control. Los conocimientos son insuficientes y fraccionados, persisten mitos sobre el mecanismo de transmisión (25.6%). Las condiciones medioambientales e intradomiciliarias de las viviendas son favorables para la reproducción de los vectores (75%). Conclusión.  El programa destinado a control de vectores y enfermedades transmisibles por vectores debe ser fortalecido en cuanto a las facilidades de las familias para ejercer las acciones que le han sido delegada
