Rosa Lee Shepard Gibson is interviewed by Lorraine Crittenden on August 6, 1986 as a part of the Western North Carolina Tomorrow Black Oral History Project. Born in 1908, Gibson recalls her mother’s family, who were enslaved, and her own childhood experiences working on the family farm in Jackson County.
