It is with sincere gratitude that we dedicate, this volume of Akroterion to Prof. P I Conradie. Not only has Prof. Conradie devoted many decades to advance the cause of Classics in South-Africa, he was also intimately involved with this journal from its beginning, as a regular contributor, as member of its editorial board and finally as its editor for the past ten years. By means of the present offerings the contributors to this volume wish to extend their sincere thanks to Prof. Conradie for his own contribution to the Classics, and wish him a pleasant and productive retirement
