Background: The maternal mortality rate is an indicator of national health status. To reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), especially in Karanganyar Regency, the risk factors that affect maternal mortality must be known.Subjects and Method: This was a case-control study conducted in Karanganyar, Central Java, from 2016 to 2017. A sample of 57 study subjects was selected by fixed disease sampling. The dependent variable was maternal mortality. The independent variables were pregnancy complications, labor complications, postpartum complications, maternal age, a distance of pregnancy, parity, maternal nutritional status during pregnancy, number of antenatal care visits, delay in making decisions, late referrals, late handling of staff...
