This paper intends to expound on the reasonsbehind India’s adoption of the Look East Policy which ithad intended to utilize in jumpstarting its laggardeconomy and be at par with the tigers of the East, namelyJapan, China, South Korea, Taiwan and Hongkong, toname a few. This policy calls for the establishment ofbetter cultural, trade and political links with theseindustrialized countries and in the process attain increasedproductivity and development. Indeed, the adoption ofsuch policy has catapulted the economies of such risingcountries as India, Singapore and Malaysia to greater andunprecedented heights
