This paper develops an economic model involving four steps: identification of commercial uses of space resources, prospecting and exploration, development, and production. The second part of the paper applies the above considerations to a concrete example based on the data of the Colorado School of Mines project of mining the Moon. It analyzes the deterministic model and the uncertainties related to this venture using a Montecarlo study
