According to recent research, sexual assault in military population has become an increasing problem since 2016 and affects thousands of individuals each year (Ferdinando, 2018). However, it is unclear what is driving this particular pattern. As consent is an important part of the ethicality of sexual activity (Beres, 2007), sexual assault may be the consequence of a misunderstanding in regards to whether consent occurred (Jozkowski, et al. 2019). The current study will attempt to examine what factors might be influencing those perceptions of consent (Humphreys, T, P, & Brousseau M, M, 2010), and whether there is a difference in those factors between military and civilian population.
