The first part of this word concerns the quantitative determination of the nature and abundance of structural defects in various kaolinites. The study is performed by comparison of X-Ray patterns with simulated spectra. Two granulometric patterns are studied for each kaolinite (> 0.1 µm and 0,1 µm et < 0,1 µm). Une seconde partie relie les caractéristiques structurales de ces kaolinites à leur aptitude à l'intercalation par l'hydrazine. Une détermination quantitative précise du taux d'expansion est effectuée à partir de l'analyse des réflexions 00l des kaolinites intercalées.
