Revision of the taxon Parapalpares latipennis (Rambur, 1842) with the description of a new species from Angola (Neuroptera, Myrmeleontidae, Palparinae). The distribution of Parapalpares latipennis (Rambur, 1842) has been considered so far as pan-African, ranging from Senegal to Mozambique. A review of specimens deposited in several public collections shows that only those originating in West African savannahs are conspecific with Rambur’s type. Specimens from other parts of Africa (Congo Basin, Gabon, Angola and Mozambique) cannot be assigned to this taxon. The synonymy between Palpares latipennis and P. praetor Gerstaecker, 1894, is revoked and the species rehabilitated under the new combination Parapalpares praetor (Gerstaecker, 1894), n....
