Mortality diagnosis of micro and small companies in Rio Verde-GO from 1998 to 2000

The objective of this work was to investigate the causes of mortality of micro and small companies in the city of Rio Verde (GO) from 1998 to 2000. Initially, a survey of the municipality's business structure was carried out, together with the Municipal Secretariat of Finance, which identified the opening of 1,352 MSEs and the closing of 297 MSEs in the period. Due to the deficiency of these registration data, information obtained through direct research was used, which allowed us to locate 18 former businessmen who were discharged from the City Hall and 26 who had terminated their activities and did not regularize the company's downward situation. Crossing data from the Municipal Department of Finance with the results obtained in the survey, it can be concluded that, overall, the mortality rate of micro and small companies in Rio Verde was 35% in the three years under reference, 39% in 1998 and 1999, and 24% in 2000. A revealing finding from the survey results is that the corporate mortality rate in the last year has dropped dramatically. This fact may be related to the dynamism of the local economy, because it was precisely during this period that the process of implementation by large companies in the municipality was consolidated, determining high rates of economic growth. Regarding the time spent in the market, it was concluded that of the surveyed Rio Verde MSEs, 47% remained active for up to one year, 30% up to two years and 23% exceeded two years in activity. The most frequent reasons mentioned by entrepreneurs as a cause of bankruptcy were: lack of working capital, high tax burden, high delinquency and lack of clients. Other problems were also mentioned - lack of managerial knowledge, very strong competition, administrative and financial expenses, inadequate facilities, etc. The most frequent claims of businessmen to reverse such scenario are: need for more favorable credit lines, management advice and reduction of the tax burden. It was observed that the lack of working capital could be remedied with credit lines that met the needs and economic reality of the small entrepreneur, especially in the first year of existence. The research also makes it clear that the difficulties related to the lack of working capital cannot be solved independently of referrals that act on the management deficiency, given the lack of knowledge by some entrepreneurs of the actions that could be used to mitigate this deficiency. , and yet, due to the fact of self-recognition of this deficiency.Dissertação (Mestrado)O objetivo do trabalho foi o de investigar as causas de mortalidade das micro e pequenas empresas no município de Rio Verde (GO) no período de 1998 a 2000. Devido à deficiência desses dados cadastrais, foram utilizadas informações obtidas por pesquisa direta, o que permitiu localizar 18 ex-empresários que deram baixa na Prefeitura e outros 26 que haviam encerrado as atividades e não regularizaram a situação de baixa da empresa. Mediante o cruzamento de dados da Secretaria Municipal da Fazenda com os resultados obtidos na pesquisa pôde-.se eoncluir que, de um modo geral, a taxa de mortalidade das micro e pequenas empresas de Rio Verde foi de 35% nos três anos em referência, sendo 39% em 1998 e 1999, e 24% em 2000. Um dado revelador do resultado apresentado na pesquisa é que a taxa de mortalidade das empresas no último ano reduziu-se drasticamente. Este fato pode estar relacionado eom o dinamismo da economia local, pois foi justamente neste período que o processo de implantação fie grandes empresas no município se consolidou, determinando taxas elevadas de crescimento econômico. Quanto ao tempo de permanência no mercado, pôde-se concluir que das MPEs de Rio Verde pesquisadas, 47% permaneceram em atividade até um ano, 30% até dois anos e 23% ultrapassaram dois anos em atividade. Os motivos mais freqüentes apontados pelos empresários como causa de falência foram: falta de capital de giro, carga tributária elevada, alta inadimplência e falta de clientes. Outros problemas também foram citados - falta de conhecimentos gerenciais, concorrência muito forte, despesas administrativas e financeiras, instalações inadequadas, etc.. As reivindicações mais freqüentes dos empresários para reverter tal quadro são: necessidade de linhas de crédito com taxas de juros mais favoráveis, assessoria gerencial e redução da carga tributária. Observou-se que a falta de capital de giro podería ser sanada eom linhas de créditos que fossem de encontro com as necessidades e a realidade econômica do pequeno empreendedor, principalmente no primeiro ano de existência. A pesquisa também deixa claro que as dificuldades relativas à falta de capital de giro não podem ser solucionadas independentemente de encaminhamentos que atuem sobre a deficiência de gerenciamento, tendo em vista o desconhecimento por parte de alguns empresários das ações que poderíam ser utilizadas para amenizar esta deficiência, e ainda, devido ao fato do auto-reconhecimento dessa deficiência
