\u3cp\u3eThe effect of silylation on a series of Au/Ti-SiO\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e catalysts for the direct epoxidation of propylene in the presence of H\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e and O\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e was studied. It was found that silylation significantly improved catalyst performance: propylene conversion, propylene oxide (PO) selectivity, and H\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e efficiency increased. The extent of improvement depended on the Au and Ti content of the catalysts. The catalyst showing the best activity (Au(0.1)/Ti(1)-SiO\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e) exhibited an average PO formation rate of 121 g\u3csub\u3ePO\u3c/sub\u3e kg\u3csub\u3ecat\u3c/sub\u3e \u3csup\u3e−1\u3c/sup\u3e h\u3csup\u3e−1\u3c/sup\u3e and...
