Sexual Consent Education

Sexual assault is a problem that women battle all over the world regardless of country of origin, race or socioeconomic status (Jozkowski & Peterson, 2013). Despite the widespread epidemic, the concept of consent is one that is not a subject that is readily taught. The definition of sexual assault is centered around the important issue of consent, or willingness, within a sexual encounter. The normalization of sexual aggression within a society is called rape culture, which is created and supported by the ignorance surrounding sexual assault. Rape culture perpetuates rape myth ideas and beliefs that cause purposeful confusion around sexual consent and sexual assault. By researching sexual assault and consent, this study will discuss the complexity in society that is rape culture, then propose an educational program reform for sexual consent
