Thermoelectric cooling is a solid-state cooling technology that utilizing the Peltier effect to achieve a temperature difference between the two sides of the thermoelectric cooler (TEC). The basic principal which was discovered by Jean Peltier is that when current passed through a joint of two connected metals in an electric circuit, it will generate heat flux and the amount of the flux will depend on the Peltier coefficient of the two metals and the current passing through the circuit. The usage of this technology depends on the overall efficiency of the cooling system and that in turn depends on the thermal efficiency of that system.
