'Get Out the Vote' Campaign' press release

This press release announces the NAACP's "Get Out the Vote" campaign and discusses the "National Election Emphasis Day," which was designated for Sunday, November 3, 1968. On this day the NAACP called on clergy to urge their congregations to go to the polls and cast their votes. The goal was to greatly increase the percentage of African American voters in the state of Ohio. In addition to state and local campaigns and issues, the November 1968 election include the race for president between the Republican candidate, Richard Nixon, the Democrat, Hubert Humphrey, and the Independent, George Wallace, who ran a campaign in favor of racial segregation.
