Mail carrier on south side of Wyandot Avenue

This photograph shows a horse-drawn mail buggy standing on a brick street in front of the Upper Sandusky post office. A man in a suit and hat stands next to the buggy and looks at the camera. Mail bags from the train depot fill the back of the buggy. Bicycles lean against the curb in front of the post office and men stand on the sidewalk. The side of the building next to the post office shows advertisements for a drug store ("The Sheppard- Reliable Remedies- blood purifier, magic linament, cough compound") and Maxwell's dry goods and carpets. The storefront of Maxwell's is in the first floor of the building next to the post office. Photograph by Harry Evan Kinley (1882-1969), a native of Upper Sandusky. Kinley was active in local events and organizations, and spent his professional career as a clerk at his father's department store, and later as a traveling salesman for the Marion Paper & Supply Company (1934-1962). He was also an avid lifelong photographer, and the bulk of the Harry Kinley Collection is comprised of glass plate negatives documenting the Kinley family, the city of Upper Sandusky and Wyandot County and surrounding areas
