Revitalization of the Brutontown Neighborhood in Greenville, South Carolina

Neighborhood revitalization is the idea of enhancing neighborhood resources, economic development, public services, and the quality of life for residents. A declining neighborhood can be described as a neighborhood whose original developments are in physical disrepair and where lack of capital investment has made the neighborhood at-risk economically and socially. Moreover, physical decline can also be accompanied by crime and drug abuse, and housing problems like housing vacancies and aging stock. Conventional suburban developments have been proved to have many flaws. They create cities that are extensively dependent on automobiles. Conventional suburban developments are poor in terms of communication opportunities and street connectivity and walkability.
