The description on the back reads: The stereograph is part of a collection consisting of twenty-six stereographs from a series published by Fred S. Crowell titled "The Whiskey Crusade in Ohio." The images document the activities of women who participated in the Temperance Crusade of 1873 - 1874 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The Temperance Movement was an organized effort during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to limit or outlaw the consumption and production of alcoholic beverages in the United States
