Photograph showing the Neil House, one of the leading hotels in Columbus, Ohio. The Neil House first started as a tavern in the 1820s. This first building was destroyed by a fire, and a second one (seen here) was constructed in 1861-1862. The third building was built in 1922 and an early postcard states that it had 655 rooms, each with a private bath, and the cost per night was $2.50. With its close proximity to the Ohio Statehouse, the Neil House was a popular stay for many politicians, including 15 U.S. presidents
