Cabinet card portrait of painter James H. Beard later in life, ca. 1880-1893. He lived and worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1834-1876. Beard eventually left Cincinnati and settled in New York, where he lived until his death in 1893. Beard painted a variety of subjects including animals and portraits of prominent people like William Henry Harrison
