William Still (1821-1902) was chairman of the Vigilance Committee from 1852 to 1860. This anti-slavery committee sent hundreds of slaves north to Canada along the Underground Railroad. This cabinet card is from Husted and Company in Philadelphia. The image was collected by Ohio State University professor Wilbur H. Siebert (1866-1961).
