Jeffrey Haulage Locomotive

10-ton haulage locomotive made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio in use at the Amherst Coal Company, Amherstdale, West Virginia, 1927. Haulage locomotives were used to pull long trains of coal cars from mines. A trolley arm extended from the locomotive to an overhead electrical cable to provide power for the locomotive. Electric locomotives could travel at approximately 5 miles per hour
