Exterior view of the Ohio Company Land Office in Marietta, Ohio, ca. 1895. It was built after the Ohio Company landed at Marietta in 1788. This photograph depicts the building in it's second location. In 1791 the Land Office was moved 450 east of it's original location so that it could be protected by the guns at Campus Martius from attacks by Native Americans hostile to Anglo-American settlement of the Ohio Valley. It is the oldest building in Ohio and presently part of the Campus Martius State Memorial
