Downy Woodpecker photographs

Two photographs document the downy woodpecker, Picoides pubescens, the most common species of woodpecker found in Ohio. The downy woodpecker eats insects and some berries. It grows to about seven inches in length. Adult males have a red stripe of feathers on the backs of their heads. The photographs measure 3" x 3" (7.62 x 7.62 cm)
