Taken the winter of 1936, this photograph shows Blair Covered Bridge in Perry Township, Ohio, in Stark County. Soil stratification is visible along the banks of the Grand River. The bridge was constructed in the 1860s, but was replaced by a cement bridge in 1951. This photograph is one of the many visual materials collected for use in the Ohio Guide. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Works Progress Administration by executive order to create jobs for the large numbers of unemployed laborers, as well as artists, musicians, actors, and writers.
