This house is located on Mayfield Avenue in the West Hill neighborhood of Akron, Ohio, adjacent to the Hall Park Allotment Historic District. The Hall Park Allotment was developed by Philander Hall between 1902 and 1919 during the height of Akron's "rubber boom," as middle class residents sought homes on West Hill, away from the smoke and soot of industry. It consists of several houses representing the picturesque styles of the period, including the American Foursquare, Craftsman, Colonial, and Medieval Revival Styles. West Hill is roughly bounded by West Market on the north, West Exchange on the south, Downtown on the East, and Rhodes Avenue on the West. It features many stately older homes, particularly in the recently recognized Oakdale Historic District
