The aircraft shown in the photograph are a pair American Airlines DC-3s parked at Lunken Airport. Lunken Airport was established in 1925 by Dixie Davis, a fight instructor. The formal dedication of Lunken Airport took place in 1930. The airport was also home to the Embry-Riddle Company, which was granted one of the first U.S. air mail contracts. Embry- Riddle eventually became American Airlines
