Cornerstone laying ceremony program

This is a program for the cornerstone laying ceremony for the United States Post Office and Courthouse in Columbus, Ohio, on September 24, 1933. The front page shows a drawing of the building and provides general event information. Pages two and three provide the agenda for the ceremony. The United States Post Office and Courthouse, sometimes referred to as the Federal Building, is located at 85 Marconi Boulevard at the corner of Gay Street. Completed in 1934, it is the Federal Government’s contribution to Columbus's civic center. The building occupies a triangular tract on the east bank of the Scioto River, and housed the main post office, federal courts and offices, and the United States Weather Bureau station. The four-story building is made of sandstone and marble. Richards, McCarty & Bulford of Columbus designed the structure, which cost almost $1,800,000 to build
