Samuel Fisher asks why the Rotches have not responded to his letters. He understands that Thomas and Charity were considering a trip eastward to visit family and aged parents and he awaits news of a letter of their arrival. A visit was tentatively planned in 1815 but Charity Rotch was ill and the trip was postponed.
