This document describes the decision by an appointed town council to place a highway through private property in Newport, including that of Mary Rodman whose land is indicated on the plat map as 'W. Rodman' widow Rodman. Capt. Rodman died at sea in 1766, leaving his wife with considerable holdings in Newport and seven daughters, the youngest being Charity Rodman Rotch.(1766-1823).
