This presentation draws on both the radical genealogy of science fiction author Octavia Butler’s (1993) recurring theme of change as a constant and the work of New York Times best-selling author, adrienne maree brown, in her social justice organizing and self-help text, Emergent Strategy (2017) (brown does not capitalize her name) to create critical classroom practices. brown offers fresh perspectives on how to imagine liberation and provides dynamic ways to think about teaching and learning. Emergent Strategy provides principles to help us change and grow - essential for all pedagogical work.
