The objective of this study, which was conducted among primary caregivers of children under 5 in households to ascertain local knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and practices regarding water treatment management and hygiene in three counties in Liberia: Montserrado, Grand Bassa, and Grand Gedeh. The survey, conducted in December 2008, targeted three main cities within the previously listed counties: Monrovia, Buchanan and Zwedru, but also surveyed a smaller sample of rural households. Cluster sampling methodology was used to select a representative, random sample of household caregivers of children under 5 in urban and rural areas in 3 main counties areas of Liberia.
