Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by hyperandrogenism, oligo/anovulation and is associated with risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, such as insulin resistance and central adiposity. The aim of the study was to evaluation of influence of the oral contraceptive pill on the endocrinologic and metabolic parameters in women with PCOS. Material & methods: Forty nine PCOS women (aged 23,9±3,5 [mean±SD]) without any other diseases were included into the study. Oral contraceptives (0,02mg ethynylestradiol +0,15 mg desogestrel) were administered for 6 months.
