Współczesne społeczno-kulturowe koncepcje i teorie samobójstw

The paper being a continuation of the author’s earlier work published in Suicidology vol. 1. outlines major contemporary social and cultural concepts and theories of suicide. They will be presented from four research and theoretical perspectives. Two sociological perspectives - in terms of: the model of social integration; and the modernisation or socio-economic change model. Two cultural perspectives - in terms of: the model of patterns and values of a given culture, ethical and legal norms, attitudes towards suicide prevailing in the society, and economic factors and the model of suicidal behaviours transmission via mass media and pop culture. The social integration model includes concepts dealing with age and life cycle, domestic integration in the family, migration and theory of status integration. Under the heading of the modernisation model concepts will be described dealing with the influence exerted on suicide by such processes as industrialisation, urbanisation, education and secularisation, as well as transition of socio-economic systems. Explanations of suicidal behaviour in terms of the cultural model will be focused on the gender roles socialisation, ethical and legal norms, religion, ethnic differences (white vs. black race), alcohol consumption, unemployment, and a demographic conception of the Relative Cohort Size (RCS) in the population in the productive age. The model of suicidal behaviour transmission contains the imitation theory (the copycat and the snowball effect), the differential identification theory, and a concept of suicidal musical subcultures. Is it possible to construct a single integrative multifactor socio-cultural theory of suicide?Niniejsza praca jest kontynuacją artykułu opublikowanego w I tomie „Suicydologii” (2005 r.). Jej celem jest opis najważniejszych współczesnych społecznych i kulturowych koncepcji oraz teorii samobójstw. Zostaną one przedstawione je w czterech perspektywach badawczych i teoretycznych. Dwie perspektywy socjologiczne: według modelu społecznej integracji oraz według modelu modernizacji lub zmian społeczno-ekonomicznych. Dwie perspektywy kulturowe: według modelu wzorów i wartości danej kultury, norm etycznych i prawnych, postaw społecznych wobec samobójstwa oraz czynników ekonomicznych oraz według modelu transmisji zachowań samobójczych przez mass media i kulturę masową. Model społecznej integracji obejmuje koncepcje związane z wiekiem i cyklami życia, integracją rodzinną, migracji i teorią integracji statusu. W ramach modelu modernizacyjnego autor opisuje koncepcje wpływu na samobójstwa takich procesów, jak: industralizacja, urbanizacja, edukacja i sekularyzacja oraz zmiana systemu społeczno-ekonomicznego. W modelu kulturowych wyjaśnień zachowań samobójczych autor skupi się na roli socjalizacji według płci, norm etyczno-prawnych, religii, różnic etnicznych (rasa czarna-rasa biała), spożycia alkoholu, bezrobocia i koncepcji demograficznej - relatywnej wielkości populacji ludności w wieku produkcyjnym (RCS). Model transmisji zachowań samobójczych zawiera teorię imitacji (naśladownictwa, powielenia, efektu kuli śniegowej), teorię zróżnicowanej identyfikacji i koncepcję suicydalnych podkultur muzycznych. Podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy jest możliwe stworzenie jednej integracyjnej, wieloczynnikowej społeczno-kulturowej teorii samobójstw
