Orthorexia (lat. orthorexia nervosa) is obsession with healthy food and it is a mental illness associated with eating disorders. It usually begins very gently and innocently — from improving the quality of meals. At the very beginning dishes universally regarded unhealthy are being eliminated from the diet (fried meat, fatty sauces, sweets), and diet is being made rich with fresh vegetables, fruits, not-sweetened juices, boiled fish. The next step is buying the natural food and start reading food labels. If these activities don’t go further we cannot talk about the progression of the disease.
