Ictiofauna da área cárstica de Presidente Olegário, Estado de Minas Gerais, com ênfase nas espécies subterrâneas

Ichthyofauna from the karstic area of Presidente Olegário, north-central of Minas Gerais state, was studied on several occasions (two epigean streams and three caves), showing a moderate richness: 12 species recorded, distributed on Characiformes, Siluriformes and Cyprinodontiformes orders. Two species were recorded cohabiting the same subterranean stream, however, both are non-troglomorphic: the small catfish Trichomycterus brasiliensis and the small armoured catfish Parotocinclus sp.; the first one also occupying a reach of a vadose tributary from Vereda da Palha cave. The occurrence of individuals of different ranges of body size/age indicates that they are completing their life cycles in the hypogean realm, and are possibly troglophilic fishes (species able to live and complete their life cycle in the epigean and subterranean relams). Indeed, for Parotocinclus species was recorded a population variability for melanic pigmentation, which can represent an early stage of isolation and differentiation in the subterranean environment.A ictiofauna subterrânea da área cárstica de Presidente Olegário, centro-norte de Minas Gerais, foi inventariada em vários ocasiões de visita (dois riachos epígeos e três cavernas), mostrando uma riqueza relativamente elevada para a área amostrada (cerca de 1,5 km2): 12 espécies registradas, distribuídas nas ordens Characiformes, Siluriformes e Cyprinodontiformes. Duas espécies não-troglomórficas foram registradas coabitando riachos subterrâneos, o bagrinho Trichomycterus brasiliensis e o cascudinho Parotocinclus sp., a primeira também ocorrendo em tributário vadoso superior na caverna Vereda da Palha. A ocorrência de indivíduos de diferentes faixas de tamanho corpóreo/etárias indica que este peixes estão completando seus ciclos de vida no meio hipógeo, e, são possivelmente troglófilos (espécies capazes de viver e completar seus ciclo de vida tanto no ambiente epígeo quanto no subterrâneo). Ainda, em Parotocinclus sp. foi registrada variabilidade populacional quanto à pigmentação melânica cutânea, o que pode representar uma fase inicial do processo de isolamento e diferenciação no ambiente subterrâneo
