The interview is a format in journalism constantly associated with values such as public interest, surveillance and objectivity. On television, it seems to take on even more evident quality of data verification and search for a more in-depth information. This article argues that these conceptions are historically constructed from a relationship between television news and culture. We therefore propose a brief review of how interview entered the television journalism while legitimizing and incorporating their values , particularly surveillance. For that purpose, we assume that television journalism is a cultural form and the ways of doing interview are strongly related to the cultural context it is in.
